Now a days technical writers became a main stream professional, like other main stream professionals.

Every Manufacturing and Service industries started set up their own Technical Publication division.

The demand of technical writers are raising day by day.
In the past days, the industries were not giving that much important for technical documents. 

There would not be appointed any technical writer for creating and managing their documents.
Technical Documentation used to done by Design Engineers, Technicians or by Developers. So that there won't be requirements of any technical writer in that time.

After implementation of norms that all products will be released to market with specific documents, the companies are started hiring Technical Writers.

How to become a technical writer



The principle of the technical writing is:
The right information, to the right audience, in the right format, at the right time.

  • The right information is to write, what you need to deliver.
  • The right audience means who reads your information.
  • The right format means create PDF for print or online delivery,
  • The right time is when the content is truly needed as clearly written tasks to explain how to perform required actions.

These are the basic principles need to be followed, if you want to a technical writer and also you should fascinate on writing.

Apart from these principles, there are few skill sets required to be a Technical writer.

You should keep in mind that technical writing includes different types of documentation, for example, product feature documentation, API documentation, user documentation, marketing documentation and much more. 
Each type of documentation requires its set of skills.

Soft Skills: It includes attitude, communication, creative thinking, work ethic, teamwork, decision making, time management, motivation, flexibility, problem-solving, critical thinking, and conflict resolution.

Technical Skills: These skills depend on requirements of a company. You should chose which field your are interested and export.
However, company will provide you the product specific training

Educational Qualification: You should have holding a diploma or degree qualification minimum.
You should have good command on english literature.
You should be a good listener so that you can transfer the information from one end to other end.

Tools: If you have the basic knowledge on the below mentioned tools then it will make your career successful.

The above are the few basic requirements for the technical writer. But there are many, its depend on the which field you are working.
